BEIJING, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- "Better Days," a Chinese film that puts the spotlight on school bullying, dominated the Chinese mainland box office for a sixth consecutive day on Wednesday, showed figures from the China Movie Data Information Network on Thursday.

It generated more than 58 million yuan (about 8.22 million U.S. dollars) in the market on Wednesday, bringing the total box office revenue since its debut on Oct. 25 to around 800 million yuan.

On the daily box office chart, "Better Days" was followed by "My People, My Country" and "The Captain" that grossed around 7.78 million yuan and 6.64 million yuan, respectively.

Directed by Derek Tsang, who is best known for directing the 2016 film "SoulMate," "Better Days" revolves around a brutally bullied high school girl who gets entangled with a young crook and embroiled in a murder.

Starring Zhou Dongyu and Jackson Yee, the film boasts a score of 8.4 out of 10 on film review platform Douban based on more than 358,000 reviews.

The film has stirred heated discussions about campus bullying on China's social networking platforms, with major media outlets carrying a number of pieces on the topic.
