NANCHANG, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- World No. 1 Mark Selby suffered a 5-4 defeat against Thailand's Noppon Saengkham at the 2018 Snooker World Open held in Yushan County, Jiangxi Province, China on Thursday.

Selby came from 3-0 down to 4-4 and had chances in the deciding frame, but eventually lost, failing to get to the quarterfinals.

"I didn't play well enough to win," admitted Selby. "Noppon is a very methodical player. I was trying to speed up to get a rhythm going. But little things kept going wrong for me."

Meanwhile champion Mark Williams enjoyed a 5-1 win over Joe Perry with top breaks of 78, 63, 52 and 75.

"I'm still playing good stuff and I hope it continues," said Williams. "I haven't played much over the summer so I'm very pleased to get to the quarterfinals here."

In other action, Jack Lisowski came from 3-0 down to beat Kyren Wilson 5-4.

And, China's Xiao Guodong beat Anthony Hamilton 5-3 with a top break of 101, reaching the quarterfinals along with Marco Fu of Hong Kong, China, who saw off Robert Milkins 5-2. Enditem
