LONDON, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese artist Kong Ning, famous for her art works calling for environmental protection, showcased a performance art "Little Blue Man" here Wednesday.

Wearing dozens of "little blue men" made of degradable corn materials, Kong Ning made her debut walk along the Thames River, starting from the Waterloo Bridge to the Westminster Abbey.

She also carried a human-sized inflatable blue man in her arm, indicating a marriage between her and an ideally clean and peaceful world.

The 60-year-old artist told Xinhua that each little blue man symbolizes a drop of clean water. She wants to convey her idea that "life is just like a drop of water, gently coming and going, without adding any weight to the earth".

The "Little Blue Man" art installation attracts plenty attention and supports from tourists and locals. British writer Michael Paul Hogan thinks it is a "marvelous and admirable thing."

"I really admire people who don't just talk but do something to protect the environment. I think she is a great performance artist and I am delighted she is here in my hometown," he told Xinhua.

Before Britain, Kong had the art display in France, Italy, Greece, Monaco and Morocco. She plans a global walking program with her "Little Blue Man", hoping her voice is heard all over the world.?
