NAIROBI, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Olympic javelin silver medalist Julius Yego of Kenya will skip the Shanghai Diamond League assignments in May to focus on his training and reconditioning and expects to return to action stronger on June 13.

Yego, 29, has had a tough start in the season and finished last at the Doha Diamond League meeting on May 4, but wants to return to competitive action when he is certain of his fitness.

"I will be back stronger. It has been an interesting season in the javelin and I look forward to more improvement in the next competition," Yego said on Thursday from Eldoret.

The Kenyan failed to make the finals of the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, leaving it to Indian youngster Neeraj Chopra to claim gold.

He started off the Diamond League campaign in Doha, Qatar, but was clearly struggling after shaking off the ankle and groin injuries that saw him relinquish his world title.

He threw a season best of 80.75 meters. But he wants to return to the 90 meters throw in his next competition.

Yego will only return to action on June 13 at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting, which is part of the IAAF World Challenge tour.

He will be up against world champion Johannes Vetter, Olympic winner Thomas Rohler and Neeraj Chopra all who have thrown over the 90 meter mark.

This means that he will not be available for competition in Shanghai, Eugene, Rome, Oslo or Stockholm.
