PARIS, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese sister duo of Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi claimed the gold medal of Duet Free at the inaugural leg of 2018 FINA Synchronized Swimming World Series here on Sunday.

The Wang sisters racked up a match-best score of 92.5667 points to earn China its only gold in the French capital. China had won two silvers and one bronze in two previous competition days.

Anastasiya Savchuk and Yelyzaveta Yakhno from Ukraine were 0.9667 points behind to sit second. The bronze went to Inui Yukiko and Nakamaki Kanami from Japan in 91.3000.

Younger Chinese pair Liu Jinhan and Liu Jintong finished sixth among the 29 participating duos.

Russia snatched 5 of 10 gold medals on offer in Paris following their Sunday's double victories in Solo Free and Duet Mixed Free.

Svetlana Kolesnishenko, the 2017 FINA Best Female Synchronized Swimmer winning four golds at the World Championships, collected 95.5000 points to taste gold in Solo Free. Yelyzaveta Yakhno and Inui Yukiko ranked second and third respectively.

In Duet Mixed Free final, Aleksandr Maltsev and Mayya Gurbanberdieva handed Russia its second gold of the day after overshadowing Italian Manila Flamini and Giorgio Minisini, the Duet Mixed Technical champions a day earlier. Japanese duo of Abe Atsushi and Adachi Yumi also stood on the podium.

Chinese promising swimmers Zhang Yiyao and Shi Haoyu, both under 18, sat last among the five teams.

Ukraine followed Russia with three golds after adding another in Highlights Routine with 91.6667 points, bettering the score of hosts France and Israel.

China and Italy took away the remaining two titles of the competition.

The second leg of FINA Synchronized Swimming World Series will run from April 20 to 22 in Beijing.
