NAIROBI, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- London Marathon winner Daniel Wanjiru of Kenya is hopeful he will delay ascent of British Mo Farah to the domination of road races when the two meet on March 4 in the streets of London for The Big Half race.

Wanjiru, who failed to get to the winner's podium in August during the World Championships, where he finished fourth, believes he has what it takes to challenge for the Big Half honors against some of the best road racers.

"It is always a big moment whenever, I return to London to race. But this time round it will be even more fans and challenging as I go for The Big Half," said Wanjiru. "I have very happy memories of running on London roads and the fantastic crowds.

"It is a privilege to be racing such a legend as Sir Mo Farah and I know that both he and Callum Hawkins will be big rivals to me in this race. The Big Half will be a great race."

The Kenyan comes from a stellar year where he has also improved his personal record on the half marathon distance bringing it up to 59:20, which makes him by far the fastest man at the start of the London race.

Mo Farah has in fact a best time, which coincides with the British record of 59:32, which he recorded in 2015 at the Lisbon Half marathon while Hawkins in February 2017 ran in 60:00 in Japan. Wanjiru said he cannot wait to get back to London and challenge two great athletes.
