KIEV, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has the potential to achieve an annual gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 5 percent in the coming years, the country's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said on Tuesday.

"With the right decisions, we would have the growth of 5 percent or more in the medium term," Groysman was quoted as saying by the government press service.

To achieve the targeted growth, the Ukrainian government will continue the cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, boost investment and support exports, Groysman said.

For this year, the cabinet has projected a 3-percent growth for the Ukrainian economy, he added.

The central bank of Ukraine has estimated that the country's GDP grew 2.1 percent in 2017 on the back of increased domestic consumption of goods and services.

The final figures for last year's economic performance will be delivered later by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
